Does Venus like fire? The answer is simple. No. Venus rules an earth sign (Taurus), an air sign (Libra) and is exalted in a water sign (Pisces). Earth is about the senses, while air and water, both being moist elements, are about connecting people, each one in its own manner. We could say that Venus, through the senses (Taurus), brings two opposites together in a relationship (Libra) which can result to the experience of love in the emotional sense (Pisces). Fire, I'm afraid, has nothing to do with all that.
Venus in Aries. This is the sign of Venus' arch-enemy, Mars. Mars represents the male view of life, to which Venus violently opposes. Mars competes, races and hates standing still. Mars sees life as a challenge and its moto is "it can be done". The Taurus self of Venus fails to see the point in all this, because there's always going to be another race, another challenge, another prize to win and this attitude prevents people from enjoying the pleasures life has to offer. For Venus, this is a waste of valuable time. Aries, however, finds the way of life Venus proposes as completely meaningless. Winning prizes is not simply fun, it is accomplishment. When you reach the end of your life, what will there be for you to show for? If the answer is nothing special, then your life was a failure. It's as simple as that.
Mars is very sexual and very passionate but doesn't understand relationships. As long as the passion lasts, everything is fine. When all of it is spent, there's no need for the relationship to continue. What on earth for? Venus is, therefore, very uncomfortable in Aries as this sign goes against everything it believes in. Women with this placement -particularly if the rest of the chart supports this testimony - very often display manly characteristics or their approach to relationships is what we would call masculine. They may show a dislike for other women when the latter ones become "too feminine" and constantly criticize them for not being honest and direct or for "playing tricks". They also accuse men of not being able to appreciate a "true woman" and cannot understand why they seem to show a preference for "silly and frivolous" women or "bimbos". They are often tomboys and dislike spending too much time in front of the mirror. The problem is - if other elements in the chart point to the opposite direction - that sometimes behind this agressiveness and apparent self-assuredness hides a feeling of inadequacy. The feeling of "I'm not woman enough", especially if other people marginalize them exactly because of this.
Venus in Leo. Leo receives a lot of bad press for being individualistic and egocentric. True, very true. When you are on the path of self-knowledge, however, there's no other way. Leo, ruled by the Sun, is the sign of self-knowledge and self-knowledge requires having yourself as your top priority. The problem with people with a heavy emphasis on the sign of Leo is that, unless they have some sort of talent to justify this self-centredness or simply be fun to hang around with, they can be extremely irritating. Relationships and other people in general are not appreciated by Leo, despite evidence to the contrary. There's often an insecurity in Leo whether or not they are on the right path. That's why they need other people, not because they actually appreciate their presence in their lives, but because if other people love them and admire them, then, yes, they are on the right path, they are doing something right.
Venus, however, is not about the self. When the self is all you care about, even when it is for all the right reasons, there's little room for anyone else. So, this is also a malfunctioning Venus. Remember, the Sun is in fall in Libra, Venus' sign. Venus in Leo can be very flirting, very likeable or even loveable, because it craves admiration from other people and does everything in its power to make the other person say: "I love you, you are the best". But that's all that it really wants. It knows that if it gets involved in a relationship, it will have to make compromises that it is not prepared to make. The other person, however, feels betrayed because, quite naturally, mistook all this flirting for real love. This can be a very seductive Venus, but for all the wrong reasons.
Venus in Sagittarius. Out of the three fire signs, this is perhaps the best fiery Venus. Sagittarius is a sign ruled by Jupiter, which, together with Venus, are the two benefics. They also share a common love for the sign of Pisces. Sagittarius, however, is a hot and dry sign, like all the fire signs and Venus cannot help but feel uncomfortable in it. Venus in Sagittarius views love as a learning experience. This may be true for most people as love affairs provide us with valuable lessons, but that is not the main reason we get involved with other people. Venus in Sagittarius doesn't really believe in "I want to love and be loved", but rather "Can you help me experience love?" It's like that famous Foreigner song "I wanna know what love is, I want you to show me". It's not the same as needing love. Venus in Sagittarius doesn't need love, it finds it interesting, there's a vast difference. Other people, however, object to this, because they feel they've been used.
Yes, it's passionate and exciting, after all it's a fiery Venus, and that can attract other people, but there's a restlessness in this Venus. Because love is an experience, these people want to experience everything that life as a couple can provide. It is not enough sitting on a couch and holding hands while watching TV. This is boring. The presence of a loved one is never enough. This Venus is always trying to find something new to do, but doesn't understand that this can push people away, not because they are against what this Venus proposes, but because pretty soon they begin to realize that Venus in Sagittarius rarely wants anything else.

Very nice, Petros, thank you. Mrs. Restless Venus in Sagittarius here loves it when someone holds a mirror in front of her face...
ReplyDeleteYes, sitting in front of the TV holding hands should not be done more than once...:)
Hi Petros!!!
ReplyDeleteI´m quite interested in this theme Venus signs cause i have one of the Liz Greene´s books - Astrology for Lovers.
In this book she makes a whole description of the elements differences, focusing more this differences between Fire-Earth and Air-Water. More on this book is that, supported only by the Sun Sign position, she makes a description of the Sign, its myth metaphor, its "Shadow", the "Man of the Sign", the "Woman of the Sign" and at last the "Sign and Love".
What i wanted to ask you is taking this theme post of yours, Venus signs elements, that seems to describe our approach to Love, afections, possessions, "flirting mode", etc, how could Liz Greene been making such confining description about for example "Gemini and Love" taking only the position of Sun Sign.
I found others Authors like Julia and Derek Parker assuming a position that not only the Venus Sign position is important in matters of Love but the combination of Sun/Venus positions is what they focus in the finally analysys.
Another thing is...isn´t the moon´s sign position influence important too? Or is something that we are more aware/visible only in the relationship with other?
Liz Greene's book is about the Sun signs and it's a very good one, I might add, if you're into this sort of thing. She tried to explain the twelve zodiacal energies and their approach to love. It's not a Sun in Gemini thing, but rather how the zodiacal energy of Gemini views love, regardless of which planet/s one has there.
ReplyDeleteApart from that, when we enter in a relationship, it is our whole self that enters in it, not just Venus. A Venus in Pisces person may view love as a union of souls or have a rather romantic approach towards it, but if the same person has the Sun, Moon, Mercury in Aries, then this Aries energy is going to collide with Venus.
The Moon, yes, is very important in relationships, I think, since it is the natural ruler of the 7th house. The difficulty in natal astrology is that we can't isolate a single factor and make judgements based on it.
So generaly speaking, a person who has Scorpio Sun, Sagittarius moon, Scorpio mercury and Sagittarius Venus makes him/her feel like he/she has some kind of a inner "conflict" between that he/she expresses and what he/she loves/nurtures? Or maybe it´s only related people who can see this suposed "conflict"?
ReplyDeleteThere indeed may be an inner conflict, but keep in mind that we are talking about planets here and their natural rulerships. In a natal chart, the most important thing for relationships would be the 1st/7th house axis. Also, is any of these planets you mention angular? If so, this planet takes precedence.
ReplyDeleteVenus in fire signs are NOT tomboys!
ReplyDeleteThey are the most likely to be obsessed with beauty and outlook, they often work as beauticians, cosmetologists, hairdressers, hairstylists, fashion designers and makeup artists. Fire signs love to dress up. What a bunch of jealous people you are! Fire signs are the most pretty in the whole zodiac.
I have Leo Sun, Aries Moon, Leo Mercury, Leo Venus,Leo Mars, Leo Rising, ARies Midheaven and I'm far from being a tomboy! I'm a super girly girl and a diva! peace out yall
I have Aries Moon/Aries Venus and I'm a beautician.
DeleteI have Saggittarius Sun, Leo Moon, Sagittarius Venus, Leo Jupiter, Leo Rising, Aries Midheaven. I'm a hairdresser - hairstylist, and I love it!
DeleteWhat I've noticed about most women who have a lot masculine fire signs is that all of them act overly girly girl, but they do not have soft personalities. They are not calm nor are they sensitive to the feelings of others. So many of them compensate by aggressively seeking womanly things like clothes and getting dolled up. In fact they are flamboyant with the way they dress. But never soft. Women who have a lot of feminine signs often try to act more tomboyish to compensate for the lack of assertiveness. Yet, their personalities are much softer and they are more dependent. Verses women with fire signs are extremely independent. They sometimes act to the OUTSIDE world as if they need no one but themselves, no matter what their opinion of themselves really is.

ReplyDeleteInteresting.
ReplyDeleteI have Venus in Aries (later degrees), in the 8th house.
I am considered very "independent" (a good thing for everyone, as far as I am concerned), but I could not possibly describe myself as having been or being a "tomboy". I have told - by women, no less - that I am extremely "feminine" in my demeanour and aspect.
I REVERE beauty, in all forms, and have a great eye for it (which I have used profitably in the past).
I love dressing well, preferably in silk, and I am an avid collector of perfume.
It is absolutely true, however, that I tend to despise people who use tricks for attracting the opposite sex. (Only, I despise the other sex - thae one who falls prey to such tricks - even more!)
(I do not criticise anyone for it, but that's simply because I do not gossip. Ever. Period.
OK, that's not entirely true... But when I do gossip it is extremely rare and short-lived.)
Anyway, I don't think that my aversion towards ploys and tricks has much to do with my Venus in Aries. I would say my mother is the same, so that's probably a major influence.
Most of all, it is logic that dictates such an aversion. As I see it, only a weakling with major inferiority issues needs a woman that pretends to be "helpless" or whatever the game is.
I personally have no interest whatsoever in weaklings. I am not interested in mothering or babying men - I want a rock on which *I* can lean on and find repose.
I haven't met such a man, nor do I expect to meet him. I live my life beond such consideraions, not counting on something that may never happen to make my happiness.
Thanks for the article and for "listening"! :)
Thank you for sharing! I think what you say has a lot to do with Venus in Aries, but keep in mind that any real assessment of a planet can only be done looking at the whole natal chart.
DeleteThe fact that you are against weakness shows that you are quite a masculine woman. What makes Venus in Aries such a poor placement is not that it doesn't like beauty...in fact Venus in Aries is AGGRESSIVELY pursuing beauty sometimes. (Look at Barbie who happens to be Venus in Aries). But what makes this placement so poor is why they pursue beauty. Venus is in Detriment in Aries. The truth is many Venus in Aries people only dress up to gain attention or to be original, but the fail to see the true reason why dressing up is so important. The purpose of getting dolled up is to please others. Simple. You can call it acting helpless, but it would be difficult for a Venus in Aries to call themselves "attractive" if they do not consider how others feel about them. Venus in Aries is extremely independent and selfish, which makes it hard for them to play the softer, supportive role in a relationship. To Venus, Aries is a disgrace. These women have a distorted view of the planet. This is classified a Detrimental placement. Because of their distorted mindset of love, beauty, and money, it often comes with damage. Those qualities are considered "manly", never feminine. Of course, natal aspects can influence how one expresses as well as house placements, sometimes more so than signs. :)
DeleteMy Venus in Aries, fire, fight and often flight. extremely independent, never married, many affairs. Masculine in many helpful respects, but my Taurus Sun is extremely feminine and wonderful and good for life love and business. Both sides in balance. A beautiful inner marriage. Can spend a huge amount of time alone but when in love, fall hard will spoil lover to the core.
ReplyDeleteMen attracted to: Highly sexual, suave, tender but brawny, humble, masculine but smooth, James Bond type men. Older, experienced men. Then there are those fun, lets do anything men. Passionate/Playful Sex and entertainment high priority. About the only priority. There will be war and peace, there will be blood there will be much time apart, Aries is busy, rarely will miss a man, seeks mostly the moment not the destination. Long term relationships seem unnecessary but just maybe she can live with him, or at least try it for mm a month. When Venus in Aries is unhappy, they leave and they never go back. They are very content in life and they like to keep it that way, they fight for it. It's been hard built and they honour their hard work. They will not stick around for crumbs or disrespect or a man with no personal ambition or no life of his own. Venus in Aries usually get stalkers because Aries is moving forward. No contact is not cold, it's honest.
When broken hearted it's devastating with many trips to the gym, Aries ego gets raped and not being able to touch their lover like a death. Aries will heal and move on fast but there will be moments through out the rest of their lives of tearful memories. (most only sexual)
Venus in Aries downfall, staying in the wrong relationships or affairs because the sex is too good to leave. Be careful Venus in Aries, with being such an independent sex goddess you must remember you can be VERY VERY picky. Think Options!
Venus in Aries: think Survivor Island, she's built the cabana by herself, opened a restaurant and after dating all the males, she's alone on the shore building a boat. Having won she does not care, she's won the best prize, winning against herself.
BEST MATCH: Venus in Leo man. There is a bond here that is full body experience. The Venus in Leo man allows her to be herself, lots of drama, lots of space, lots of sex. But there is a inner twin womb in this match for both partners. They are very thankful towards each other. They're lovers past Venus past Mars, and possibly out of this universe. Powerful force without obsession, free, delightful.
I also have Venus in Aries, (then Mars and Moon in Aries in 3rd house, including Mercury Taurus there)
ReplyDeleteI love art and anything beautiful, including poems. Despite of being an artist for painting. i do make boxing and other martial arts.
tricky with word and sarcastic but also romantic.
Good speech but aggressive words when i am mad.
Having Sun in Taurus. i have typical Taurus looks but full 3rd house with Aries makes me a bit masculine as well.
It is very useful info by the way.
Thank you
i have venus in sagittarius but my sun is in capricorn does it somehow affects my venus ?
ReplyDeleteNo, your Sun doesn't affect your Venus, as they are not in any form of traditional aspect (they may be in an antiscional relationship, though). Bear in mind that Venus is not the only thing an astrologer looks at in a chart when it comes to relationships. The most important things are the 7th house, its ruler(s), the planets in it, Venus and also the Moon.
Deletemy 7th house is in Cancer and Moon in Scorpio :) by the way thank you so much that you commented on my post
ReplyDeleteWelp, I have Venus in Sagittarius and this not only doesn't describe me, it's the *opposite* of my attitude toward love. Now, I'm also dominated by water and have Mars and Venus conjunct in my first house. But... yeah, not impressed with this interpretation, like so many removed from an individual chart in it's entirety, it will be hit or miss.
ReplyDeleteSince you already know that a chart is to be read in its entirety, you shoud take this with a grain of salt and not expect to completely identify with it. So, your comment seems pointless, but it is to be expected from a Mars in the 1st house person.
DeleteI have a venus in Leo and it is quite true what you say. I really crave attention and admiration, sometimes taking me on a self-destructive path when I have the feeling that those longings are not met. What you said about venus in Leo's vision on relationships and people is also quite true for me. It is really sad actually I wish I was not like that. Obviously it has it positive side to, but it can be very tiring for me and my close environment.
ReplyDeleteI have sun in libra, moon in aries, jupiter in virgo, venus in leo and sagittarius rising. I feel like my moon in aries is also a real burden.
